Would you believe Hotel Phillips was a bit of a hidden gem at the time Brandi and Dan reached out to me? They have a little ballroom, and it was underutilized when we found it, making it a hidden gem for this moody Kansas City micro wedding.
Brandi and Dan's micro wedding with 21 guests was a perfect way to fill the Crystal Ballroom with love, warmth, and personality. Their day carried the essence of a dinner party wedding- elegant, intimate, slow, and connected.
These two have a love of vintage finds, road trips, and quirky details. He was a recent Kansas City transplant, and she welcomed him first as a colleague then as a friend. Brandi wears her heart on her sleeve as an artist. Dan lives in each moment slowly and intentionally. The rest is a pretty cool love story, and we wanted to capture the highlights in details.
Since most guests were coming from out of town, we wanted to help immerse them in KC like Dan did when he first got here. They got to stay at a historic hotel for the entire weekend, exploring some of their favorite spots around town with a welcome bag full of tips about places to check out. Brandi made the invitation suite herself, and Dan's sister surprised them with a wedding sign. They collected postcards from places their guests' resided and used them as a guest book.
Their vendor team also just happened to include a thrifting planner, florist, and photographer. Anne Thorne foraged for branches and blooms to add to her creations, and I found a gorgeous piece of vintage fabric for the table runners I'm still gushing about. Juliana has a gorgeous eye for all the textures, patterns, and cool lighting opportunities in the space.
This micro wedding was a dream from start to finish.
