Chrystal and Jim had ideas that felt very different from a traditional wedding. It was much more casual, for one, with about half of the guest list being kids. They wanted something that felt like a party that just happened to have a ceremony in the middle. Their celebration was all about creating an opportunity for a blended family to kick off a new chapter of life with an incredible memory.
We put together a light, down-to-Earth, bohemian wedding at Colonial Gardens with just a few services to elevate the experience. Heavy apps from real life farmer Thyme for Seasoning and dried bouquets from a real life farm contributed to the farm-to-table feel. We kept the design simple but impactful, highlighting the natural beauty of their venue and taking advantage of existing plants. Nicole Springer provided an incredible acoustic sound to set the tone, and Rhythm KC captured it all in his signature photojournalistic style.
Straying from tradition (and spotlight), the couple and their kids greeted guests as they arrived, creating a cozy and connected feel from the start. At sunset, the family gathered for the processional, with Jim leading the way and the kids forming a halo around Chrystal. After a short ceremony, the group got back to hanging out- complete with s'mores, charcuterie, a game table, and live music.
